EU pharmaceutical legislation modernisation: political agreement reached

Commissionwelcomes political agreement to modernise EU pharmaceutical legislation The EU has reached a major agreement to update its 20-year-old pharmaceutical rules. The reform strengthens competitiveness and innovation while keeping strict safety standards in place. What the new rules will do: Together, these changes will reinforce the EU’s strategic autonomy, support a more competitive and innovative healthcare sector and ensure citizens benefit from high-quality medicines and treatments. Commission adopted a proposal for a new Directive and a new Regulation, which revise and replace the existing general pharmaceutical legislation.
